American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009
To help Carolina researchers take advantage of new opportunities available through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 (ARRA), a new Recovery Act Funding Information web page has been created by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development.
Also known as the stimulus bill, the $787 billion Recovery Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Obama in February 2009. The act allocates $21.5 billion for research and development, all of which must be allocated and spent by September 2010. Since all major federal funding agencies will provide significant funding through the Recovery Act, it provides a one-time, unprecedented opportunity to support academic research.
The new Research @ Carolina Recovery Act Funding web page will help researchers find funding opportunities as they are announced, as well as university policy and procedural information about applying for and administering Recovery Act awards.
It is important to note that the application process varies across federal agencies. Contact the appropriate program officer for information about the process specific to each agency.
The Office of Federal Affairs, the GrantSource Library and the Office of Sponsored Research are monitoring various federal agency information sources and will post important announcements to the web page as soon as possible.
Check the website frequently for updates or subscribe to the Research Support Newsletter to receive Recovery Act funding announcements and news.
If you learn about Recovery Act research funding opportunities that should be shared with the University community, please send your information to grantsourcelibrarian@unc.edu.
Please contact the Office of Research Development (962-7503) if you would like support in developing your proposal.
Contact the Office of Federal Affairs (843-0050) if you have specific questions about the Recovery Act.
